Who's Who in Aviation 1936

The year 1936 was important for British aviation, with the Government expanding the Royal Air Force (RAF) and planning to open over 30 new air stations in the coming three years, including Brize Norton and Cranfield. Civil aviation was still in its infancy, with under four pages needed to list all holders of commercial pilot's licences.

With extensive lists of both RAF and commercial establishments, in Britain and overseas, over half the book is dedicated to a 'Who's Who' style listing of individuals, with details of education, career events, current occupation, clubs belonged to, and home address. There is information about the career and decorations of people like The Viscount Trenchard or Lady Mary Heath, the first woman to fly solo from Johannesburg to London in 1928.

Those whose deaths are recorded include Colonel TE Lawrence and Ait Commodore Charles Kingsford Smith. For anyone with an interest in inter-war aviation, or with family connections, this CD will be invaluable.
