The History of the
United States of
America

John Clark Ridpath rose from humble origins to become a college principal before being a full-time writer. His Popular History of the United States was originally published in 1878.

Well illustrated with sketches and coloured maps and plans, the book consists of 702 pages, and in style and layout reflects the attitudes of the day . It is very positive in its approach, and many subjects are dealt with at considerable length, so that for example the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, still fresh in the author's mind, takes up 65 pages, with a detailed description of each country's contribution.

The History of the United States of America CDDespite its limitations, the CD will be valuable to anyone with an interest in the development of the American nation, or family history there. It is easy to use, and has its own index, although a large number of pages means that getting to where you want to be can be time consuming.

Price: £14.95 plus £2.50 postage.

The CD can be ordered from www.genealogysupplies.com or you can write to S&N Genealogy Supplies, West Wing, Manor Farm, Chilmark, Salisbury, SP3 5AF.
