London 1677 Directory

This 150-page listing of over 2,500 merchants and bankers living in and around the City of London is arranged alphabetically by surname and bookmarked by major headings. The full name for each person is given, plus their street or parish of residence, but not their occupation, except for 'goldsmiths keeping running cashes'. This directory is a handy finding aid for family historians researching Londoners a decade after the Great Fire, priced £17.45.

The Homeland Handbooks- Part 1 Guernsey, Sark, Alderney and Herm

A 91-page official guide published in the early part of the 20th century by the Homeland Association. The contents include traditions, worthies, antiquities and literary associations, as well as maps, photographs and drawings. The bookmarked sections include an index, advertisements, a map of Guernsey, a reference book bibliography, contents and a list of illustrations. The eight main chapters comprise an introduction, history, St Peter Port, the South, West and North coasts, walks and drives, other islands and a map of Alderney. The handbooks provide useful background information and are priced £12.95.

Wills in the York Registry, 1389-1652

This CD comprises the enhanced fully searchable scanned images of 11 volumes of indexes to wills and administrations proved in the Exchequer and Prerogative Courts of York. The volumes were published by the Yorkshire Archaelogical Society between 1885 and 1905 and contain 96,000 entries for wills and 43,000 entries for administrations, plus 5,000 wills and administrations for London. Each volume (except the volume for 1636-1652 which is by year) is arranged alphabetically by surname and forename and is bookmarked alphabetically. The entry gives the date of probate, testator's name, residence and occupation, date of the will and reference for the will. The wills are a helpful source for well-to-do ancestors in Yorlshire and other northern counties in the 14th to 17th centuries, priced £29.95.

Second World War- Overseas deaths in the Army, Navy, RAF and Indian services

The contents of this CD, costing £29.95, comprise the scanned images of nicrofiche copies of the nine General Register Office (GRO) volumes for Army officers, Army other ranks (A-H and I-Z), Naval officers, Naval ratings, RAF all ranks (A-L, M-R and S-Z) and Indian services. Each volume is bookmarked alphabetically by surname, but the quality of the images does not allow use of a search facility.
