Crockford's Clerical Directory 1929

Crockford's Clerical Directory 1929

If you have a family history interest in a member of the Church of England clergy, then Crockford's Clerical Directory is invaluable for providing details of careers, and information about churches, their patrons, and the hierarchy and organisation of the church.

Crockford's covers the Church of England throughout the world, so we can learn that the Rev E D Jowitt was vicar of Hackthorn with Cold Hanworth in Lincolnshire. He had been there since 1923, having been ordained in 1898. For the care of 285 souls, he received £347 and a house. Crockford's is full of useful information for anyone researching the history of the Church of England, or who wishes to check the details of clergy and parishes.

The original volume is over 2,000 pages, but because the CD is easy to use and navigate, the user is not really aware of the amount of information available, or the relative size of the many different sections.

It costs £17.45 plus £2.50 postage and can be ordered online at www.genealogysupplies.com or you can write to S&N Genealogy Supplies, West Wing, Manor Farm, Chilmark, Salisbury, SP3 5AF.
