New Features at The GenealogistNew Features at TheGenealogist

TheGenealogist.co.uk have launched a new forum where subscribers can read and contribute articles about their research successes and interesting family stories.

Any subscriber with something to share can contribute to the section, called 'Subscriber Articles'. You don't have to be a professional writer or even a good typist, as all articles are moderated and edited before they are published online. There are only a few to read at the moment, but the collection is sure to grow.

There have also been upgrades to the recently added 'Wills and Testament Index Viewer' and search form. The PDF viewer, which had teething problems (particularly on the Mac), should now function correctly on all platforms and browsers. The search form has also been extended and now allows you to search for any combination of forename, surname or place.

With the completion of the census for Hertfordshire 1841, TheGenealogist now also has the largest collection of genuine census transcripts - as opposed to indexes, which don't include all the major census information - available online. There are complete transcripts of the 1841, 51, 61, 71, 91, and 1901 censuses for England and Wales, with more images uploaded and linked to these transcripts every day.

They have also added ship;s census lists covering the years 1861, 71, and 1901 to the collection, allowing you to find relatives in the navy, even if the ship was abroad.
